About the Role
As a Senior Clinical Coder, you'll play a key role in ensuring accuracy in inpatient facility coding and Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) assignments. Your expertise will support coding compliance and retrospective medical claims reviews, contributing to a smooth and effective claims process.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct retrospective reviews of medical claims with a focus on accurate diagnosis and procedural coding, including DRG assignment.
Collaborate with medical directors, peer reviewers, providers, and claims teams to address coding-related inquiries and resolve complex issues.
Serve as a coding resource for clinical and non-clinical staff, sharing expertise to enhance understanding of coding processes.
Draft detailed determination letters to support claims decisions and communicate findings effectively.
Assist with network provider claim review requests by providing accurate and reliable coding evaluations.
What You Bring to the Role
Expertise in inpatient facility coding (not outpatient or general coding).
Comprehensive knowledge of DRG coding and its role in hospital billing workflows.
Experience with DRG-dependent hospital payment systems, as opposed to fee-schedule-based processes.
Coding certifications such as RHIT or RHIA are a plus, but relevant experience will also be strongly considered.
Exceptional attention to detail and a proven ability to demonstrate coding expertise effectively.
