Job Profile Title Clinical Research Coordinator A
Job Description Summary The Division of Rheumatology is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual to manage the fast-paced day-to-day operations of multiple clinical trials and translational research projects for vasculitis, scleroderma, Sjogren's Syndrome, and other rare rheumatic diseases. Essential functions of this position include and are not limited to: screening, recruitment, and enrollment of study participants; data collection, entry, and management in accordance with study protocols; scheduling and conducting research visits; and submitting to both Penn and central Institutional Review Boards (IRB). This person will work in a highly collaborative team environment with other research coordinators, a lab manager, program manager, and investigators to help advance the research mission of the Division and University. This position is hybrid eligible after successful completion of the introductory period. This position is contingent upon continued funding.
Job Description Job Responsibilities Clinical Research Coordinator A Screen, recruit, consent, and enroll study participants as specified per protocol and GCP guidelines. Schedule, prepare for, and conduct participant visits and any necessary testing/specimen collection.
Obtain, handle, process, and ship biospecimens including blood, urine, and tissue.
Prepare and submit IRB documentation including initial submissions, continuing reviews, amendments, and adverse event reporting.
Coordinate, organize, complete, and maintain source documents, case report forms, regulatory documents, and participant binders in accordance with ALCOA-C. Enter data in electronic data capture systems. Perform data QC and address queries.
Show vigilance in participant safety, protocol compliance and data quality. Adhere to all University of Pennsylvania, FDA and GCP guidelines.
Clinical Research Coordinator B Perform the duties above with the additional expectations of effectively and independently managing multiple trials while also assisting other coordinators as needed.
Will demonstrate leadership skills, be able to identify common challenges, brainstorm creative ideas to problem-solve emergent issues, and present and implement strategies to improve participant recruitment.
Will work closely with the Clinical Research Manager on preliminary budget proposals, perspective reimbursement analyses, and study start-up activities.
Position Contingent Upon Funding
Qualifications Clinical Research Coordinator A Bachelor of Science and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Clinical Research Coordinator B Bachelor of Science and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Preferred:
Outstanding organizational and time-management skills are essential. Exquisite attention to detail; the ability to manage multiple responsibilities including daily tasks and planning for longer-term tasks; outstanding communication, writing, and interpersonal skills; and the ability to work both autonomously and within a team are all essential for this position.
Individual must be comfortable communicating with diverse audiences.
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and databases such as REDCAP and LabVantage; and ability to manage research websites. Previous experience in a clinical research environment.
