Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning:
    • Implement a strategic vision for global programming that aligns with the school's mission and educational goals.
    • Collaborate with school leadership to integrate global perspectives into the curriculum.
  • Program Management & Development:
    • Design and manage international exchange programs, travel abroad opportunities in the Upper and Upper Middle schools, and collaborative projects with other RSHM schools.
    • Create and enhance cross-cultural initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school community.
    • Oversee all details of travel arrangements; working with travel agents to book flights and transportation and itinerary planning.
    • Build out systems and procedures/protocol that can be used as reference for any travel/trip planning.
  • Partnership Building:
    • Establish and nurture relationships with other RSHM schools to facilitate meaningful partnerships.
    • Cultivate connections with global educators and experts to bring diverse perspectives to our school community.
  • Student and Family Engagement:
    • Provide guidance and support to students participating in global programs, ensuring a positive and enriching experience.
    • Lead family meetings to promote and prepare families for travel experiences.
    • Organize and promote events and activities to promote global awareness and understanding among students.
    • Correspond with families before, during, and after student travel to answer questions, make recommendations, problem-solve, and get feedback.
    • Make arrangements for international students who visit Marymount New York, including finding host families, and setting up details of school attendance (uniform, laptop, etc.)
  • Faculty Development:
    • Work with educators to integrate global perspectives into the curriculum, fostering an inclusive and globally-minded learning environment.
    • Facilitate professional development opportunities for teachers to enhance their global education expertise.
    • Work with Upper School administration to help craft academic policy for students going abroad and to craft schedules, activities, and guidance for exchange students whom Marymount is hosting.
  • Risk Management and Faculty Training:
    • After receiving training in risk management, implement and oversee risk management protocols for international travel and programs.
    • Train faculty chaperones and trip leaders about practices and protocols for safety and security.
    • Along with the business office, standardize processes for planning, including permissions and payment.  
    • In time, develop a procedures/protocol manual that can be used as reference.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Education, International Relations, or a related field preferred
  • Experience in program development and implementation
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain partnerships
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Cultural competency and sensitivity to effectively navigate diverse environments
  • Experience working in an educational leadership role preferred
