The Department of Horticulture invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, fixed-term Faculty Research Assistant position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.

The Faculty Research Assistant ( FRA ) will join the Deluc lab, in the Department of Horticulture. The FRA will perform plant tissue culture and join a research team working on Bio-Engineering and gene editing technologies in clonal crops. The incumbent will be a part of a team of postdoctoral fellows and PhD students working on DNA -free gene editing and gene editing-mediated transformation in grapevine species. This position will perform various technical tissue culture procedures for the different research programs already established in the lab. The FRA will have opportunities to work efficiently both independently and in a team environment. Under the supervision of the PI and guidance of Postdoctoral Fellow and other researchers, the Faculty Research Assistant will develop, plan, manage, and execute tissue culture experiments aiming at delivering CRISPR /Cas reagents either as DNA or protein, and at performing them with Agrobacterium tumefaciens and rhizogenesis and other nanotechnology-based delivery systems. The Faculty Research Assistant will prepare, write, and contribute to the manuscript submission for publication in appropriate peer-reviewed journals. The incumbent will help maintain the regenerated edited material in greenhouses as needed.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):

Requires Bachelor's degree in discipline appropriate to the field in which research is being conducted.

Requirements :

Bachelor's Degree in Biology or a field related to Biological Sciences

3+ years of experience in plant tissue culture and plant transformation

Experience working effectively with diverse groups of students, researchers, and staff.
