School Security Officer - Syracuse, NY!

$27.36 PER HOUR (Prevailing Wage base rate $24.92 + $2.44 supplemental rate)

Position Summary

The Security Guard is responsible for performing licensed security guarding duties to ensure the safety and security of assigned client location, its visitors, guests, residents and their property. By exhibiting vigilance and tactfulness in following company protocol, the Security Guard is perceptive at identifying situational risk within assigned areas and prompt in communicating events to Site Supervisor/ Manager on duty.

The Security Guard works in conjunction with Supervisor staff and Operations teams to foster best practices that are compliant with federal/state regulations and is committed to the respect and integrity of our Arrow mission to provide an exceptional client experience.

Essential Job Duties

Arrow Security is seeking motivated individuals with prior School Security Officer experience to join our team of security officers for the Syracuse School District. As a School Security Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of the students, staff, and guests within the school district. This part time position requires individuals who are reliable, possess excellent interpersonal skills and can present a professional appearance.

• Monitor and supervise metal detectors for all personnel entering and exiting the premises.
• Serve as a School Security Officer, providing a welcoming and secure environment for students, staff, and guests within the Syracuse School District.
• Maintain a vigilant presence, observing and reporting any suspicious activities or individuals to the appropriate authorities.
• Greet and assist visitors, ensuring they adhere to the school district's security protocols and policies.
• Provide directions and guidance to visitors, staff, and students regarding the appropriate locations within the school district.
• Collaborate with other security personnel to ensure a coordinated response to any security-related incidents.
• Traverse from building to building throughout the school district as required
  
  

Qualifications/Requirements

• Neat and professional appearance.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are essential for effectively interacting with students, staff, and guests.
• Valid NYS Security Guard License
• Prior Law Enforcement or Military Background
• Availability to work after school activities and maintaining flexibility in scheduling.
• Broad knowledge of school safety and security procedures
• Ability to work effectively with campus-based administrators and staff.
• Knowledge of security computer hardware and software programs related to closed circuit television, controlled access, emergency management, and visitor identification.
