Job Description



AECOM  is seeking a  Senior Traffic Engineer for our New York Metro Region. This is a hybrid office/remote role which will be based out of our NYC office.

Our Senior Traffic Engineer is a role to handle our growing business in New York City and greater Metro area and will also support other areas in the East Region. In this role, you will support the New York Metro Planning Manager in managing traffic projects and client relations.

  • Manage Traffic simulation projects – prepare draft scopes and fees; manage tasks, schedule, changes, issues, quality, budget, and project financials
  • Support/Lead traffic microsimulation projects; create, develop and run complex Vissim and Aimsun traffic simulations
  • Lead Traffic tasks in business development efforts – get involved in professional organizations, meet new potential clients, and support proposal development
  • Conduct/Manage Traffic Engineering studies that include traffic generation, simulation/modeling, analyzing crash data sets, and traffic impact analyses 
  • Perform Concept development of Traffic Engineering plans layouts of geometric configurations that support traffic analysis including signs, markings, traffic signals, and traffic management plans/temporary traffic control 
  • Support design-bid-build and design-build projects with traffic analysis for urban environments. 
  • Stay up-to-date on new technologies and industry trends. 
  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements:

BA/BS in Civil Engineering or relevant degree with a focus on transportation + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education 

Preferred

Qualifications

:

  • 2 years of project management experience
  • 3 years of Aimsun & Vissim experience
  • 4 years managing projects
  • Master's degree is beneficial
  • Current PE License is preferred
  • Strong client relationship building skills
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience with and knowledge of New York City DOT procedures and practices
  • Signal Control, Transit Signal Priority, and other traffic signal technology experience is preferred
  • Experience with data platforms such as Streetlight Data is preferred
  • PTOE preferred
  • AICP preferred
