CollinsProgram:NPSWage/Hr:$70.00Hours/Week:13Minimum Age:55The NPS Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the NPS to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. NPS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 52 weeks. A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date.? Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave.? The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the NPS or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under NPS direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission.? NPS ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security. Qualifications:Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in journalism and public affairs OR BA/BS Degree in Communications (Exceptional Writing and Story telling), JournalismExperience in researching, interviewing and writing. Familiarity with AP style. An effective writer works independently and consistently meets agreed upon deadlines. A strong attention to detail. Critical thinking and organizational skills. Collaborate closely with the editor to develop an outline, write according to the program?s editorial style, and develop engaging and informative articles. Experience working with news media, pitching stories, and writing press releases.Experience required with Windows, MS WordMicrosoft Teams and OutlookDuties:The enrollee will support the Natural Resource Stewardship and Science Directorate?s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Ecosystem Restoration Program (ER)and the Energy Community Revitalization Program (ECRP) and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) communications program. The enrollee will be responsible for researching, writing, and editing articles, news releases, and other materials about BIL and IRA projects and initiatives, provide editorial support to maintain consistent style across content written by different authors, support digital content development, advise on communication strategy, and mentor undergraduate and graduate journalism students.Researching and Writing Articles. The enrollee will read project proposals, interview project leads, and write web articles and news releases following the goals and messages described in the communication plan. The enrollee will obtain, select, and catalogue project photos for use in the article and in the BIL-ER/ECRP and IRA photo gallery. The enrollee will collaborate closely with the BIL-ER/ECRP and IRA Communications Specialist to develop an outline, write according to the program?s editorial style, and develop engaging and informative content.35%Editing. The enrollee will work closely with the NRSS BIL/IRA public affairs specialist to develop and editorial style guide. Using the guide, the enrollee will edit articles about BIL er/ECRP and IRA projects and provide feedback to authors25%Mentoring.
